How Much Does Wedding Camcorder Rental Cost?

By The Wedding Camcorder

Renting a camcorder for a wedding in the US costs about $200 to $1,400. Most packages that include an edited film cost $650 to $1,000. The low end gets you a camera and your raw footage. The high end gets you two or three cameras and a film someone edits for you. That's what we found when we checked the published prices of ten US rental companies on October 28, 2026.

For comparison, couples spend an average of $3,993 on a wedding videographer (Zola, 2025).

What wedding camcorder rentals cost

These are the price bands we saw across US companies, as of October 28, 2026. Shipping both ways was included almost everywhere.

What you getTypical priceUsually includes
Camera only, raw footage$199–$399One camcorder for 3–5 days, all your clips, no editing
One camera with an edited film$645–$749A 2–5 minute film, raw footage, a 5–7 day rental
Two cameras with an edited film$895–$999A 4–7 minute film from both cameras
Three cameras or a premium edit$1,095–$1,399A longer film, a full-length edit, or a keepsake

What changes the price

Editing. This is the biggest jump. Renting the camera alone costs a few hundred dollars. Having someone watch every clip your guests shot and cut it into a film roughly doubles the price.

Number of cameras. A second camera usually adds $200 to $400. With two cameras, one can stay on the ceremony or the toasts while the other moves around the room.

Film length and turnaround. Longer films and faster delivery cost more. Turnaround varies widely. Some companies deliver the edit in two weeks. Others quote five to seven weeks or more.

Rental length. Three to five days covers the wedding day. Seven to ten days covers a whole weekend, including the rehearsal dinner and the morning after.

Extras. Common add-ons include a camera for the bachelorette or bachelor trip, short vertical reels for social media, a wireless mic, damage protection, and extra rental days.

Costs to check before you book

  • Shipping. Most rentals include shipping both ways. Check that the return label is prepaid and that your address is covered. Ours ships to the lower 48 states and DC only.

  • Deposit or full payment. Some companies take a deposit and charge the balance closer to the date. Others, including us, charge in full when you book.

  • Late returns. Most companies charge for each day a kit comes back late. Ours is $99 a day.

  • Damage and loss. Drops and spills happen at weddings. Find out what you'd owe, and whether damage protection is available and what it covers.

  • Cancellation. Read the refund window. Ours is a full refund up to two weeks before the wedding.

  • How long your footage stays available. Download everything as soon as it's delivered. We keep files in your account for one year.

Is it worth it compared with a videographer?

It depends on what you want on film. A camcorder rental costs a fraction of a videographer, and it catches things a professional usually doesn't: guests talking straight to the camera, the dance floor up close, the after-party.

But your guests do the filming, so no moment is guaranteed. If you want professional coverage of your ceremony and clean audio of your vows, hire a videographer. You can also do both: hire a videographer for the ceremony and let the camcorder catch everything else.
